More photos from Kristallnacht/Fall of the Berlin Wall Event

MORE PICTURES FROM KRISTALLNACHT.

These are from tabling at Kristallnacht (a.k.a. The Night of Broken Glass). We created stained glass at our general body meeting in order to represent this, and then made them into pins so people could use these items as a way to remember the horrific night which started the Holocaust.

STAND Pledge2Protect Conference in Washington, D.C.!!

This is the start to the National Canvass, in which we will be getting people to pledge their support to prevent genocide from occurring. Himani, Katie, and I were able to attend this conference, which had many amazing speakers and info sessions on current atrocities and human rights abuses.

Sorry for the blurriness in a lot of the pictures, my camera is not too great for this.

More pics on next post! I reached the limit.

Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass was an anti-Jewish pogram in Nazi Germany and Austria on November 9-10, 1938.  In a coordinated attack on Jewish people and their property, 99 Jews were murdered and 25,000- 30,000 were arrested and placed in concentration camps. This was the precursor to the genocide of the Holocaust.

To remember this as well as the fall of the Berlin Wall, incidentally on the same day, the White Rose Society participated with the Germanic Studies Dept. by holding an event in which students decorate boxes to create a wall, which eventually was knocked down.

Saturday (Oct 24th), we volunteered for Will Work For Food (www.willworkforfood.org) at Oktoberfest and raised $250 which gave 2 and a half kids a month’s supply of nutritional peanut butter! :)

If you want to apply, we’ll be volunteering more for this organization later on in the year, and you can apply on their website!

I don’t know why the last two pictures are of insects. But they are. So have fun looking at them.

Noella Coursaris Musunka, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she lost her father at five years old. Now a successful international model she continues to set new standards - including a zealous pursuit of causes for the D.R. Congo and Africa. After a 13-year separation Noella returned to the D.R.
